Good GPS Value

We really like this large screen GPS. We purchased it a few weeks before a driving family vacation and it worked very well. It is easy to use and the advance notice for lane changes was great – except for one time. When traveling through new cities its important to know which lane to get in so you don’t wind up missing your turns. This GPS performed well and we are happy that we bought it. I compared its routes with my Android phone using Google Maps & Navigation and found them to be almost identical, but I prefer the larger screen of this GPS to my phone’s smaller screen. Finding places to stop for food, gas and siteseeing is also easy – which is important on a family road trip. Google’s Places finds places faster and has a more updated database than the Garmin 1450, but it is not as easy to use (though I like the ratings that you can see on Google Places – the Garmin doesn’t show ratings for places).

All in all, we are happy with this GPS purchase. I know many people are switching to using the GPS on their smartphones, but for the low price and conveniently larger screen, the Garmin 1450 is a great deal.
